Interestingly, research also suggests that nicotine, despite its association with smoking, may have potential benefits for individuals already diagnosed with dementia. Specifically, nicotine has been found to potentially improve the cognitive function and memory of people living with dementia. This has led to the consideration of nicotine patches as a viable alternative to smoking in the context of dementia prevention.


Alcohol and Its Impact on Cognitive Health

Alcohol consumption, when done excessively, is known to be closely associated with cognitive difficulties, dementia, and significant changes in brain function. While some studies suggest that light or moderate drinking may have a protective effect against dementia, the findings are inconsistent and not universally agreed upon. As a result, experts emphasize the importance of limiting alcohol use as the most effective means of preventing dementia.
