The Impact of Bursitis on Mobility and Comfort
Experiencing bursitis of the hip, particularly trochanteric bursitis, can bring forth intense pain when lying on the affected side of the body. This condition significantly restricts mobility and has a detrimental effect on one’s overall quality of life. The discomfort and lack of restful sleep can weaken the immune system and negatively impact mental well-being. Even simple body movements become excruciating, with the joint feeling tender and even light pressure causing pain. As a result, something as basic as getting up from a seated position becomes increasingly challenging due to joint stiffness and pain.
A more serious form of the condition
Aside from the recurring pain and restricted movement commonly associated with bursitis of the hip, there is a possibility for it to progress into a more severe condition called septic bursitis. When the bursa becomes infected, indicated by the prefix “septic,” patients may experience a sudden spike in body temperature, leading to a high fever. Additionally, they may also develop shivering and skin infections in addition to the usual redness caused by bursitis.
