One common method involves the gentle pulling of hair from three different areas on the patient’s scalp. Subsequently, the withdrawn hairs are carefully examined and categorized according to their respective stages. If more than ten telogen-stage hairs are identified, it is indicative of diffuse hair loss. To identify the specific cause and formulate an appropriate treatment plan, most doctors suggest conducting a blood count and urine exam, as well as a thyroid examination.
