Additionally, it is crucial for individuals to strive for a healthy weight. Losing excess pounds can significantly decrease the chances of developing gallbladder sludge and stones. However, it is important to note that losing weight too rapidly can also lead to the formation of gallbladder sludge and stones. Therefore, it is always recommended to consult with a physician before embarking on any low-calorie diet or weight loss regimen.

There is a lack of extensive research on gallbladder sludge. However, a particular study revealed that individuals with gallbladder sludge have a significantly higher risk of developing gallbladder-related problems within a span of five years. The study participants with gallbladder sludge experienced various complications, including acute cholecystitis in 15.6 percent of cases, an inflamed bile duct in 15.5 percent of cases, and acute pancreatitis in 18.4 percent of cases. Conversely, those without gallbladder sludge had a reduced incidence of these complications by two-thirds or more.
