The Importance of pH Levels in the Body

pH levels play a crucial role in maintaining the overall health and balance of our bodies. It is a measure of the amount of acid present in our system. A pH score below 7 indicates that our body is overly acidic, while a score above 7 suggests a healthy alkaline state. The average pH level for a healthy individual is around 7.4. Water, in its purest form, has a neutral pH level.

The lungs play a vital role in regulating the acid levels in our bodies. They adjust the amount of carbon dioxide expelled through the diaphragm to restore balance when pH levels become unbalanced. However, when we consume excessively acidic foods or lack sufficient alkaline properties in our diet, our bodies compensate by extracting alkaline cells from our tissues. This process aims to neutralize the acid but can lead to the accumulation of fat in our arteries as a protective measure against corrosion. Over time, this can increase the risk of developing heart disease.

Additionally, these toxins can also have a profound negative impact on the respiratory system.

The trachea and lungs are covered with tiny hair-like structures called cilia, which play a crucial role in sweeping away dirt and debris from the respiratory tract. Unfortunately, smoking paralyzes these cilia, rendering them unable to perform their function effectively. As a result, breathing becomes increasingly challenging, and individuals become more susceptible to infections and various lung diseases.
