Within the cells, oxygen and glucose undergo a transformation, resulting in the production of water, carbon dioxide, and energy. It is crucial to have sufficient oxygen levels in the body as it is essential for energy production. Conversely, elevated levels of carbon dioxide can lead to serious health complications. The exchange of these gases and the process of inhaling and exhaling are vital in maintaining the body’s overall homeostasis.
