How To Prevent A Hangover

Replenishing Nutrients to Combat Hangovers

Excessive alcohol consumption can have detrimental effects on the body’s levels of essential vitamins and nutrients. While limited research is available on the effectiveness of consuming vitamins before or after drinking to prevent hangovers, a recent study suggests that taking magnesium, vitamin B, and vitamin C both before consuming alcohol and before going to bed can help alleviate hangover symptoms.

Pacing is Key

The rate at which alcohol is consumed plays a crucial role in determining the body’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Irrespective of body size, the liver is typically able to metabolize approximately one alcoholic drink per hour. Consuming alcohol at a faster rate than this will result in an accumulation of alcohol in the bloodstream and body tissues, leading to intoxication. By slowing down the pace of alcohol consumption, the liver is given adequate time to process each drink, thereby reducing the levels of intoxication.
