Mortality Rate: A Grave Concern
When it comes to mental illnesses, eating disorders stand out with the highest mortality rate. Anorexia nervosa, in particular, poses a significant risk for women aged 15 to 24, as its death rate surpasses that of any other cause by a staggering 12 times. It is alarming to note that eating disorders can manifest at a young age, with some individuals experiencing them as early as 12 years old. These statistics shed light on the gravity of eating disorders, prompting the need to extend a helping hand to anyone suspected of suffering from this condition.
