Degenerative
Bulging discs are often a result of the natural aging process, where the discs in the spine lose their elasticity and start to bulge downwards. This degenerative condition can impact multiple discs and potentially give rise to other spinal conditions, such as lumbar stenosis. While bulging discs can develop anywhere along the spine, they are most frequently observed in the lumbar region.
Minor Bulging: A Common Occurrence
It is not uncommon for individuals to have bulging discs, especially if they do not experience any discomfort or disruption to their daily activities. This condition, known as minor bulging, can be considered normal in certain cases. The lower back, specifically the area between the seventh lumbar vertebra and the first sacral vertebra, is most commonly affected by this mild bulging. Causes of minor bulging may include osteoporosis, trauma, or other spinal deformities.
