In such situations, the doctor may suggest the complete removal of the lipoma.
Treatment: Surgical Removal of Lipoma
The treatment for lipomas typically involves a surgical procedure to remove the growth. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia, which is administered to numb the lipoma and the surrounding area. The surgery is an outpatient procedure, meaning the patient can go home on the same day. It is generally painless, but if any discomfort arises after the anesthesia wears off, over-the-counter painkillers can be used to alleviate it.
After the surgery, the patient will be required to return to the hospital or clinic after about a week to have the stitches removed. It is possible for some individuals to develop a scar or bruise at the site of the surgical incision. However, it is important to note that the recurrence of a lipoma in the same area after removal is quite rare.
