Discovering the Neurological Advantages of Music
Recent studies have revealed that music therapy, previously associated primarily with children, can also provide notable benefits for adults. Specifically, individuals grappling with neurological issues such as autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), strokes, and dementia can experience improvements in their behavioral and motor skills through music therapy. Moreover, those with ASDs may witness enhancements in their communication abilities and oral-motor activities.
Music’s Impact on Blood Pressure
Understanding blood pressure involves two measurements: systolic and diastolic. Among these, scientists consider the systolic number to be a more reliable indicator of potential health risks, such as stroke and heart disease. Interestingly, a recent analysis of three studies revealed a positive correlation between listening to music and a decrease in systolic blood pressure. Although further research is necessary, this finding presents a promising development in addressing the prevalent issue of hypertension in the United States.
