What is a Jet Nebulizer?
A jet nebulizer, also known as an atomizer, is the most commonly used type of nebulizer. Its main function is to convert liquid or powdered medication into an aerosol form using compressed gas, such as air or pure oxygen. However, due to their noise, size, and weight, some doctors prefer to prescribe alternative nebulizers when possible.
Soft Mist Inhaler
A soft mist inhaler is a type of respiratory device that differs from traditional nebulizers by not requiring an external power source, such as electricity. Instead, soft mist inhalers utilize various methods to deliver medication without electricity. One of the most commonly used soft mist inhalers functions by utilizing a spring mechanism to apply pressure on a liquid container, resulting in the medication being sprayed out of its nozzles.
Although soft mist inhalers may have a lower velocity compared to other types of inhalers, they are still capable of effectively delivering medication to the deepest parts of the lungs. Due to their unique mechanism, soft mist inhalers are sometimes referred to as hand-powered nebulizers.
