Poor Posture: The Impact on Health

Over time, the continuous practice of poor sitting posture can result in disc compression within the spine. This compression, in turn, triggers the process of premature degeneration, leading to excruciating pain and discomfort. It becomes evident that neglecting proper posture while sitting is not merely a matter of discomfort, but rather a significant risk to one’s overall well-being.


Effects of Prolonged Sitting on General Well-Being

Prolonged sitting not only has physical implications but can also have detrimental effects on psychological well-being. A comprehensive study conducted as part of a national wellness project in the United Kingdom aimed to investigate the amount of non-work time individuals spend sitting. The findings revealed a concerning correlation between excessive computer usage and lower levels of general mental wellness among both men and women. Additionally, women who spent prolonged hours watching television also experienced a decline in their overall mental well-being.
