Shiny or Stretched Skin

For certain individuals, edema predominantly affects the torso, leading to swelling around the chest and abdomen, which can be initially mistaken for bloating or weight gain. However, if the swelling rapidly progresses, it may indicate an underlying medical condition that requires immediate attention. One such condition is ascites, which refers to the accumulation of fluid inside the abdominal cavity and is often associated with liver problems.
