Research Into the Benefits of Wormwood

Wormwood May Enhance Cognitive Function

Studies conducted on the wormwood variety have suggested its potential to safeguard the brain by inhibiting unstable oxygen molecules. Animal studies have revealed its neuroprotective properties, indicating a possible improvement in cognitive ability. Furthermore, researchers have explored the anti-depressant effects of this particular type of wormwood and found it to be equally effective as imipramine, a commonly prescribed antidepressant medication.

Wound Healing

According to a study conducted on rabbits, Wormwood has potential benefits in wound healing. The study found that this particular variety of Wormwood stimulated the healing process in the Achilles tendon. Researchers theorize that certain chemicals present in the plant have the ability to scavenge free radicals, which may contribute to its wound healing properties. Additionally, another study revealed that A. absinthium, a type of Wormwood, was effective in treating post-operative wounds in rats infected with Staphylococcus. Staphylococcus is the most common bacteria found on human skin and is known to be a major cause of skin and soft tissue infections.
