Rue: An Ancient Herb with Health Benefits

Blood Pressure

New Findings Suggest Rue’s Potential in Lowering Blood Pressure

Recent research has indicated that rue, a medicinal herb, may offer some promising antihypertensive properties for maintaining heart health. A study conducted on rats has revealed that rue extracts possess the ability to relax artery strips located in the rat subjects’ tails. This relaxation effect is believed to be due to rue’s impact on the smooth muscle. Notably, when combined with kelp, rue demonstrated a direct influence on the cardiovascular system. These findings suggest that rue’s efficacy in managing blood pressure might be enhanced when used in conjunction with other beneficial herbs.

Preventing Colon Cancer with Ruta Chalepensis

According to a study, Ruta Chalepensis shows potential in preventing colon cancer. This particular variety of rue has been found to have a protective effect in individuals with early-stage colon cancer. However, it did not yield the same outcomes for those with advanced colon cancer. Researchers attribute the positive results to the antioxidative properties of rue, suggesting that it could be beneficial in preventing cancer or slowing its progression during the early stages.
