Improve your flexibility and loosen up your hips with the 90/90 Stretch. This exercise targets the hip muscles and helps increase mobility. Follow the steps below to perform the 90/90 Stretch:
- Start by sitting on the floor with your knees bent and pointing out to the sides.
- Lean onto your left hip and bring your right leg around so that the foot is positioned behind you.
- Adjust your position so that both your front and back legs are bent at approximately 90 degrees.
- To ensure proper alignment, extend your right arm straight out from your body. It should line up with your right thigh.
- When your torso is forward, make sure that your left knee is in line with your left shoulder.
- Keep both feet flexed, but avoid tensing your ankles.
- Maintain an upright position for 30 to 60 seconds, or if you have the flexibility, begin to lean forward over the front knee.
- After holding the stretch, switch sides and repeat the exercise.
