Swelling or Bloating
One of the symptoms of congestive heart failure is swelling or edema, which can occur in different parts of the body such as the hands, abdomen, legs, feet, and ankles. This swelling may become more pronounced as the day goes on or after engaging in strenuous activity. In addition, individuals may experience a sense of bloating, as this is directly linked to the buildup of fluid in the abdominal area.
Coughing or Wheezing: A Sign of Worsening Heart Condition
When a heart condition takes a turn for the worse, it can result in fluid accumulating in the lungs. This congestion causes a dry, hacking cough and wheezing, which are prominent symptoms. It is important to note that these symptoms may become more pronounced when the affected individual is lying down. Additionally, they may persist without any identifiable cause. In some cases, the cough may even expel pink or white phlegm.
