Effects of Black Mold on Skin
Exposure to black mold not only affects the respiratory system but can also have adverse effects on the skin. Individuals with sensitive skin or direct contact with black mold are particularly susceptible to developing a dry, red, and scaly rash. The affected area may experience redness, swelling, and in severe cases, cracking or peeling. Some individuals may even develop blisters or oozing lesions on their skin as a result of black mold exposure.
Childhood Asthma
A study conducted in 2016 has discovered a potential link between childhood asthma and mold exposure in commonly visited locations. The researchers examined samples of dust collected from indoor play areas and mattresses, as well as conducted tests to determine sensitization to mold allergies. Based on the results, the researchers have concluded that increased levels of mold in these areas can pose a risk factor for the development of asthma in children.
