However, it is important to understand that different parts of the body have varying acidity levels.

For instance, the stomach acid typically has a pH ranging between 2 and 3.5, while the blood maintains a pH level of approximately 7.4. The human body has a remarkable ability to regulate its pH balance, which makes it extremely challenging to significantly alter pH levels through dietary changes alone. While it is technically possible for diet to temporarily affect urine pH levels, this does not offer any substantial benefits for the average individual.

Similar to most detoxification methods, the purported health benefits associated with alkaline cleanses are primarily derived from the consumption of healthier foods. By following an alkaline diet, individuals are encouraged to incorporate more nutrient-rich options into their meals, which can contribute to overall well-being.

Typically, a detoxification process is required when the body contains harmful toxins due to malfunctioning kidneys or liver, or when an individual has been exposed to an excessive amount of toxins within a short period of time. Various medical conditions can affect the functioning of these organs, such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis C, and autoimmune diseases. Additionally, the misuse of certain medications, recreational drug use, alcohol abuse, and severe dehydration can also impair kidney and liver function. It is important to note that exposure to toxins can also occur through chemical spills or workplace accidents.
