A 2018 study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology found that adequate sleep is not only important for overall health but also highly effective in promoting skin healing. In fact, the study revealed that sufficient sleep can be even more beneficial for skin repair than extra nutrition.

Allowing certain parts of our body to breathe can help minimize the risk of infections. Areas such as the armpits, feet, and private parts are typically covered throughout the day and could benefit from some ventilation. Bacteria thrive in warm and moist environments, and when tight or sweaty clothing hinders air circulation, it creates a perfect breeding ground for yeast overgrowth. However, sleeping in the nude can help lower the body temperature and decrease excess moisture on the skin, thus discouraging the development of skin diseases like athlete’s foot. In fact, the Yale University School of Medicine even suggests that women who experience chronic yeast infections should consider sleeping without clothes.
