Muscle and Bone Symptoms
Aarskog syndrome leads to several abnormalities in the bones and muscles. One of the prominent features is shorter stature compared to peers, accompanied by a sunken appearance of the chest. The hands are often affected, exhibiting malformations such as shorter fingers than normal and potential webbing between them. Additionally, the little fingers may be permanently curled, and instead of multiple creases, the palms may have only one crease.
Genital Abnormalities in Aarskog Syndrome
Aarskog syndrome is frequently associated with genital malformations in boys. It is not uncommon for these children to have undescended testicles and a scrotum with an atypical shape. Additionally, a lump known as a hernia may be present in the scrotum or the groin area. It is worth noting that individuals with Aarskog syndrome typically experience delayed puberty, reaching sexual maturity later than their peers.
