Symptom: Bronchitis
When individuals contract adenovirus, they often develop upper respiratory symptoms that can progress into bronchitis. In fact, both adenovirus and the flu are responsible for up to 90% of bronchitis cases. If left untreated, this condition can lead to pneumonia. Bronchitis is characterized by inflammation of the airways and persistent coughing.
Symptom: Intestinal Disturbance
Intestinal disturbances are a common symptom associated with adenoviruses. While these viruses are known to primarily cause upper respiratory problems, they can also lead to severe gastrointestinal issues that often resemble the flu. Some strains of adenoviruses can even trigger gastroenteritis, a condition characterized by stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting. It is not uncommon for individuals to mistake these symptoms for the flu. Therefore, it is important to stay hydrated when experiencing such symptoms.
