This particular complication can lead to a leakage of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain, which is a serious condition. It is important to note that both of these complications are extremely rare occurrences.
Recognizing Signs of Infection
Identifying the indications of an infection is crucial for prompt treatment. If you notice heightened pain and swelling, it may be an early sign of an infection. Additionally, the surrounding area of the nose might appear red and feel warm when touched. Individuals with an infection often experience fever as well. It’s important to note that an infection can develop from any wound on the skin’s surface, such as a cut or puncture wound on the nose. However, it can also occur internally, within the mouth or nose, following a facial injury.
