Teaching Your Child to Meditate

It’s Never Too Late to Begin

Embarking on a meditation journey can have numerous benefits for individuals of all ages. Meditation is known to effectively reduce stress and anxiety levels, enhance focus and concentration, and promote emotional balance. These advantages are not limited by age, as meditation can be equally advantageous for people at any stage of life.

A study conducted with children, whose average age was 12, demonstrated that mindfulness instruction can significantly enhance their psychological well-being. It was observed that the practice of mindfulness not only lowered their levels of stress and depression but also alleviated symptoms of trauma.

Improved School Performance with Meditation

Meditation not only aids in the development of emotional intelligence in children but also holds the potential to enhance their academic performance. Research suggests that regular mindfulness-based meditation sessions conducted in a school environment can significantly enhance students’ cognitive, emotional, and social abilities.

A study conducted with a small group of students diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder demonstrated that mindfulness training resulted in increased on-task behavior and decreased hyperactive behavior. These findings indicate that meditation can have a positive impact on classroom behavior and overall academic performance.
