Recognized by various systems, the inherent drive of a choleric person is well acknowledged. Typically, they exhibit extroverted behavior and possess a strong sense of decisiveness. Independence and ambition are also common traits found in a choleric individual. Many systems view them as natural leaders. Nevertheless, these very qualities can make them prone to anger.
Understanding Choleric Temperament in the Modern Era
In today’s world, the term “choleric” is not commonly used to describe a particular temperament. However, the underlying concept of temperament remains popular, and several modern personality assessment systems are based on the four temperament theory. Two widely recognized systems are the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Keirsey Temperament Scale. These systems further categorize the original temperaments into two roles and two types, resulting in a total of 16 distinct personalities. When using the Keirsey scale, individuals with a choleric disposition are classified under the Rational temperament, which aligns with the intuitive-thinking (NT) Myers-Briggs types.
