The History of Urine Therapy

Conferences

In India, Armstrong’s writings gained immense popularity and inspired Raojibhai Manibhai Patel, a Gandhian social reformer, to write his own works. Following in his footsteps, many writers would often reference both Armstrong’s book, The Water of Life, and sections of the Damar Tantra. As a result, a conference was organized in 1996 to explore the benefits and effects of urine therapy. Indian physicians and researchers extended invitations to experts from around the world, fostering a global exchange of knowledge. A few years later, a similar conference took place in Germany.

Understanding the Composition of Urine

Exploring the various components that make up urine is essential to comprehend the reasons behind the belief in urine therapy. Primarily composed of water, urine consists of approximately 95 percent water content. The remaining five percent is comprised of several by-products produced by the human body. These by-products primarily include urea, uric acid, and creatinine. Additionally, urine can also contain a combination of electrolytes and organic acids. Surprisingly, in some instances, urine may even contain trace amounts of proteins, hormones, and vitamins. It is important to note that contrary to popular belief, urine is generally not sterile when it exits the body. Its sterility is limited solely to its time within the kidneys.
