Home Learning during the Pandemic: A Unique Curriculum Experience
When it comes to home learning during the pandemic, the experience was quite distinct from traditional homeschooling. Unlike families who choose to homeschool, those who embarked on home learning due to the lockdown were required to adhere to state rules and follow a specific curriculum.
Students who were engaged in remote learning during the lockdown remained enrolled in their respective schools and were provided with virtual learning programs and academic curriculum by their school districts. Although the setting had shifted from a physical location to a virtual one, parents still carried the responsibility of ensuring their child’s attendance.
Homeschooling: A Popular Alternative to Traditional Education
The COVID-19 pandemic has ignited a resurgence of interest in homeschooling, providing families with an alternative to virtual learning offered by public or private schools. While some families who were already homeschooling prior to the pandemic may have continued their routine with minor adaptations, the majority of families were confronted with significant changes when schools closed their doors.
Although schools in the United States have since reopened as of March 2022, there remains a segment of families who have opted to explore the world of homeschooling and organized virtual learning as an alternative to sending their children back to the traditional school setting.
