The Raw Water Trend: What’s It All about?

Concerns about Tap Water and Chemicals

Tap water often raises concerns among individuals due to the presence of chemicals. Although water treatment plants add small amounts of chemicals like fluoride and chlorine, the Centers for Disease Control assures that these quantities do not pose a health risk. However, advocates of the raw water movement aim to minimize their exposure to such chemicals and express apprehension regarding the potential inclusion of drugs or other unintended chemicals in tap water.

Concerns about Tap Water and Infrastructure

One of the main concerns raised by critics of tap water is the state of the infrastructure and the delivery system. The aging pipes used to transport tap water, for example, are often seen as a potential source of contamination. Over time, these old pipes may release toxic materials into the water as it travels from the reservoirs to our sinks and faucets. The Flint, Michigan water crisis serves as a stark example of how a crumbling infrastructure can severely impact the safety and quality of tap water.
