The Stages of Drunkenness

Stage 6: Alcohol-Induced Coma

When a person’s blood alcohol content (BAC) reaches between 0.35 and 0.45 percent, they may enter into a dangerous stage known as an alcohol-induced coma. If an individual continues to consume alcohol beyond the stupor stage, they are at risk of losing consciousness completely. Immediate medical attention is crucial at this point, as the person faces the imminent threat of permanent brain damage or even death if they do not receive prompt care.

The Final Stage: Death

When the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) reaches a range of 0.35 to 0.45, it becomes life-threatening and highly likely to be fatal. This level of alcohol intoxication is comparable to being in a state of surgical anesthesia. Unfortunately, at this stage, the chances of survival are extremely low. Shockingly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that excessive alcohol use claims the lives of approximately 88,000 individuals in the United States each year.
