The Types of Dermatitis

Understanding Neurodermatitis

Neurodermatitis is a bothersome skin condition characterized by the presence of itchy patches that can worsen with scratching. This condition often leads to interrupted sleep and a decrease in overall quality of life. The constant scratching can cause the affected skin to become thick and leathery. These itchy patches can develop on various parts of the body, including the forearms, wrists, legs, neck, or anal region.

Understanding Perioral Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis is a skin condition characterized by the presence of small, red, pus-filled bumps, typically found around the mouth. These irritating bumps can also appear around the nose and eyes. While itchiness is usually mild, it can cause discomfort for those affected.

There are various factors that can trigger perioral dermatitis. Some common causes include the use of corticosteroid nasal sprays and inhalers, prolonged use of topical steroid creams, heavy application of face creams or moisturizers, the use of fluorinated toothpaste, skin irritations, and even rosacea.

Fortunately, there are treatment options available for perioral dermatitis. Oral antibiotics, as well as topical antibacterial lotions and creams, can effectively address the symptoms and help clear up the condition.
