The Types of Tachycardia

Sinus Tachycardia: Causes and Classification

Sinus tachycardia is a condition that is commonly experienced by many individuals. It can be triggered by various factors such as exercise, anxiety, sudden fright, consumption of stimulants like nicotine and caffeine, fever, certain medications, and even recreational drugs like cocaine. While these are considered as minor cases of sinus tachycardia, there are more severe instances that fall under the classification of inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST). Inappropriate sinus tachycardia may be associated with underlying conditions such as hyperthyroidism, low blood pressure, or anemia.

Ventricular Fibrillation: A Life-Threatening Cardiac Condition

Ventricular fibrillation is a critical cardiac condition characterized by the rapid and disorganized electrical impulses within the heart’s ventricles. Instead of effectively pumping blood to the body, the ventricles begin to quiver, leading to potentially fatal consequences if the heart is not restored to its normal rhythm promptly. This condition often arises during or following a heart attack and is commonly associated with underlying heart disease or severe physical trauma, such as being struck by lightning.
