Multifocal LASIK: Improving Distance and Near Vision
Multifocal LASIK, also referred to as “PresbyLASIK,” is a procedure that enhances both distance vision and near vision by treating both eyes. Unlike monovision LASIK, which focuses on correcting one eye for distance vision and the other for near vision, multifocal LASIK creates power zones on the cornea to enhance depth of vision and provide clear focus at various distances. Although the FDA has not yet approved multifocal LASIK, it has been successfully performed in Europe and Canada since 2002.
Conductive Keratoplasty: Enhancing Vision without Invasive Surgery
Conductive keratoplasty is a widely-used refractive surgery technique that offers a non-invasive solution for vision improvement. By harnessing the power of radio wave energy, this procedure effectively tightens the collagen fibers surrounding the cornea. As a result, the cornea undergoes reshaping, leading to enhanced presbyopic vision.
Through the application of low-energy radio waves, the corneal tissue responds by steepening its curvature. This beneficial effect enables the eyes to regain their ability to focus on nearby objects, reinstating clear vision for close-up tasks.
