What are Lung Nodules?

Diagnosing Lung Nodules: Using Bronchoscopy

When it comes to diagnosing smaller lung nodules or masses that are located in certain areas of the lung, needle biopsies may not always be feasible. In such cases, a bronchoscopy is considered a more suitable method for testing these nodules. This procedure involves the insertion of a flexible tube into either the mouth or the nose, which is then guided through the windpipe and into the airway by a doctor.

Diagnosing Lung Nodules: Thorascopic Biopsy

When it comes to diagnosing lung nodules, one of the procedures commonly used is thorascopic biopsy. During this procedure, a small incision is made in the chest to allow the surgical removal of a small piece of the lung. By doing so, the doctor is able to carefully examine both the outer lungs and the inner rib cage, in order to identify any abnormal areas that may be present.
