What Are Plantar Warts?

Symptoms of Plantar Warts

Plantar warts exhibit several distinctive symptoms. They typically appear as hard, callous-like growths and are often characterized by a black dot in the center, which is caused by dried blood from the foot’s tiny capillaries. These warts have a tendency to grow deep into the tissue, gradually increasing in size and depth. As a result, they can cause significant discomfort and pain when walking or standing, particularly when pressure is applied to them.

Diagnosis of Plantar Warts

Diagnosing plantar warts is primarily done through clinical observation. However, it can be challenging to differentiate between a plantar wart and a corn if the characteristic black dot is not immediately visible. In such cases, a doctor may need to remove a thin layer of the wart’s surface to locate the black dot, which serves as a confirmation of the diagnosis.
