Individuals who regularly incorporate substantial amounts of protein in their diet are less prone to the adverse effects associated with excessive protein intake, including the occurrence of the meat sweats.


Alcohol and Its Contribution to the Meat Sweats

Alcohol, a substance that affects numerous systems in the human body, plays a role in the occurrence of the meat sweats. While proteins generally require the highest amount of energy for digestion and subsequently generate the most heat, other factors can also contribute to this phenomenon. When alcohol is consumed, it not only demands a considerable amount of energy for digestion but also has additional effects on the body, such as an increased heart rate and the dilation of blood vessels in the skin. These combined factors can lead to perspiration. As alcohol is often consumed alongside meals, it is possible that the meat sweats are a result of the combined effects of consuming protein and alcohol.
