Heart Failure and Cognitive Impairment
Research indicates that individuals with heart failure may experience cognitive deficits, although the precise connection remains unclear. It is possible that these cognitive issues stem from comorbidities that are also exacerbated by heart failure, or that the relationship is directly attributed to heart failure itself. Notably, a study revealed that individuals with heart failure exhibited significantly more severe memory and cognitive impairments. Furthermore, approximately one-fourth of heart failure patients also encounter cognitive problems, which can manifest as issues with motor function.
Exercise and its Effects on Mild Cognitive Impairment
Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is often associated with cognitive difficulties and low-grade inflammation. However, a study conducted on individuals with MCI and those without it revealed promising results in terms of cognitive function improvement after a consistent 16-week physical activity routine. This exercise regimen not only reduced inflammation levels, but also alleviated cognitive problems that are commonly associated with aging and MCI.
