Researchers from Harvard University have issued a warning that pandemic weight gain is a real concern and can lead to a higher risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and other related conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a concerning rise in alcohol consumption. The effects of pandemic-related fatigue, stress, social isolation, and strict measures have led to a notable increase in the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately, this surge in alcohol abuse has further exacerbated physical ailments and mental health conditions, including those that can result in violent and abusive behavior. Disturbingly, studies have even suggested that excessive alcohol use may contribute to heightened susceptibility to COVID-19 and worsen the severity of the disease.
