What Is Poison Sumac?

Understanding Poison Sumac Rash

When someone encounters poison sumac, they may develop a rash due to an allergic reaction to the urushiol oil released by the plant’s leaves. It is important to note that all parts of the plant, including dead ones, are toxic. The symptoms of this rash typically emerge within 8 to 48 hours after exposure and can persist for several weeks.
