What is Tendinopathy

Causes of Tendinopathy

Tendinopathy is primarily caused by overuse of the affected tendon. Although repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) commonly occur in the wrist and are referred to as tenosynovitis, other areas can also be affected. In some cases, tendinopathy can occur suddenly without any apparent overuse. While uncommon, tendinopathy can also be caused by an infection or rheumatoid arthritis, often accompanied by swelling.

Factors Contributing to the Development of Tendinopathy

Tendinopathy, a condition that affects the tendons, often arises as a result of engaging in activities that are beneficial for overall health and well-being. These activities typically involve repetitive use of the joints and tendons, leading to the unfortunate diagnosis of tendinopathy. Additionally, age can play a role in the development of this condition, as aging tendons naturally become weaker and more prone to injury.
