Overall, the incidence of Waardenburg syndrome is estimated to be around 1 in 50,000 people. In 2002, there were recorded cases of only 48 individuals with type 4. Interestingly, in schools for the deaf, it is observed that approximately 1 out of every 30 students will have Waardenburg syndrome.
