Foods Included in a Carnivore Diet
A carnivore diet consists solely of meat, a seemingly extreme approach to nutrition. However, proponents of this diet believe that its restrictions can result in weight loss and improved blood sugar control. While there is no scientific evidence supporting these claims, some individuals choose to adhere to this strict eating plan, which primarily includes beef, chicken, turkey, pork, white fish, sardines, and salmon. In moderation, small portions of hard cheese and heavy cream are permitted, along with bone marrow, butter, and lard. Emphasizing the consumption of fatty cuts of meat is essential for meeting the required energy intake, although it does increase the intake of saturated fats.
Food Restrictions on the Carnivore Diet
On the Carnivore Diet, certain types of foods are not allowed. These exclusions primarily include plant-based foods, which are known for their ability to reduce the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Additionally, the diet restricts the consumption of soft cheese, milk, yogurt, and other dairy products that are high in lactose. Grains like pasta, rice, and bread are also excluded. In addition to these, the Carnivore Diet prohibits the intake of beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, sugars, alcohol, and any beverages other than water.
