The Fetus’s First Movements
During the 10th to 12th week of pregnancy, the fetus initiates its initial movements. Unlike the deliberate kicks and stretches of a more developed baby in the womb, these movements are not conscious as the fetus is still not aware. As a result, the motions are random and too minuscule for the mother to perceive. Nevertheless, these early movements serve as the foundation for every movement the individual will make over the course of their lifetime.
The Decreased Risk of Miscarriage
During the early stages of pregnancy, approximately 25% of pregnancies come to an end within the first four weeks, often before the person even realizes they are pregnant. However, the risk of miscarriage remains elevated throughout the first trimester. In fact, more than 80% of miscarriages occur within the initial 12 weeks of pregnancy. Although there is still a potential risk beyond this point, many expectant parents start to feel at ease and more confident in publicly announcing their pregnancy once they reach the twelve-week milestone.
