Post-Procedure Care
Recovering from eye surgery varies for each individual, but many people notice immediate improvements within a few hours after the procedure. Following the surgery, colors may appear more vibrant, and any discomfort such as blurriness, redness, burning, or itchiness should subside within a few days.
To minimize the risk of infection and manage inflammation and eye pressure, doctors commonly prescribe medication or eye drops. While some individuals may remove the protective eye shield the day after the surgery, it is often advised to continue wearing it during bedtime to ensure proper healing and protection.
Understanding Blurry Vision Following Surgery
One of the common occurrences after undergoing cataract surgery is experiencing blurry vision. This phenomenon is considered normal and is typically caused by swelling in the eye. Fortunately, it is expected to resolve within a few weeks post-surgery. However, patients with larger or denser cataracts may experience more inflammation, which could potentially prolong the blurriness. Nonetheless, even in these cases, the vision should gradually clear up over the course of a month.
For those who are experiencing persistent blurriness or are concerned about the lack of improvement in their vision after one week post-surgery, it is advisable to consult with their doctor. In some cases, over-the-counter anti-inflammatories may be recommended to alleviate any discomfort or inflammation that could be contributing to the blurry vision.
