There are several options available, including fish oil supplements and fibrate medications, which have been found to effectively decrease triglyceride levels. However, it is essential to be cautious when taking fibrates in combination with other cholesterol-lowering drugs, as this can potentially lead to adverse side effects. Another medication that has proven effective in lowering triglycerides and LDL cholesterol is niacin, also known as vitamin B3. It is important to note, however, that a high dosage of niacin is often required to achieve significant triglyceride reduction, and this carries the risk of serious side effects. It is also worth mentioning that the use of niacin to lower triglycerides has become less popular in recent times due to the associated risks. As a result, it is strongly advised to only use niacin under the careful supervision of a doctor.
