Understanding Parasites
A type of microscopic parasite known as Giardia relies on other organisms for its survival. This parasite is responsible for causing an infection in the intestines called giardiasis, which is then eliminated from the body through feces. One of the symptoms of this condition is the presence of foul-smelling, bright yellow diarrhea. It is important to note that individuals can become infected by coming into contact with contaminated surfaces, individuals, or bodies of water where Giardia bacteria thrive. Additionally, consuming uncooked food that contains these organisms can also result in an infection.
Bile Disorders
Bile disorders can lead to changes in the color of stools. Normally, brown stools are a result of the breakdown of bile. However, when the body produces fewer bile salts, stools may appear yellow or pale. Conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis can cause a reduction in bile salts, resulting in yellow stools. Additionally, yellow stools may also be a symptom of gallstones or cancer affecting the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, or gallbladder. Cholestasis, a condition that may occur during pregnancy, can also cause the flow of bile from the liver to the intestine to be obstructed, leading to yellow or light-colored stools. It is important to note that these disorders are serious and require medical diagnosis and treatment.
