Is Tinnitus Genetic?
In certain cases of tinnitus, there is a possibility of it being inherited due to a genetic factor. One potential cause of tinnitus is otosclerosis, a condition that affects the development of bones in the middle ear and can lead to hearing loss. It has been found that almost half of the individuals with otosclerosis possess a specific gene that increases their susceptibility to tinnitus.
