This infectious disease typically has an incubation period, which is the time between the first contact with the virus and the appearance of symptoms. In the case of hand-foot-and-mouth disease, the fever usually surfaces three to six days after infection. However, it’s important to note that this illness is generally mild, so the fever should only persist for a few days.

One of the common symptoms of hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a sore throat, which typically appears a day or two after the onset of fever. The sore throat is caused by the formation of painful bumps in the throat or inside the mouth. Although the pain may start before the bumps become visible, they are the underlying cause of the discomfort.
