10 Different Types of Benign Tumors

Understanding Fibroma

Fibroma refers to a type of tumor that develops from fibrous or connective tissue. Medical professionals classify various benign tumors, including several myomas, as subcategories of fibroma. These tumors can grow in any organ or on the skin, appearing as scars, skin tags, or ovarian growths. Among them, keloid scars resemble tumors the most. It is worth noting that the production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries, which is responsible for the regeneration of the uterine lining, can also stimulate the growth of fibromas. While most fibromas do not cause any symptoms, ovarian fibromas can lead to abdominal pain.

Polyps

Polyps are fleshy growths that can develop on the mucous membranes. When they occur in the colon or rectum, they are known as colorectal polyps. Another type of polyp, called fundic gland polyps, can develop in the upper part of the stomach. While these are the most common types of polyps, they can actually appear anywhere there is a mucous membrane in the body. Although polyps are typically benign, it is important to note that they can sometimes be the result of cancerous growths. In some cases, polyps can cause bleeding and, although rare, they may also lead to intense abdominal pain.
