10 Diverticulosis Foods to Avoid

9. Lactose

A lot of literature out there aimed at helping people deal with diverticulosis will just make the flat suggestion that people avoid dairy, perhaps because it’s easier than explaining that dairy isn’t so much the problem. Sure, the casein protein isn’t the friendliest thing to digest, but it has no issue in passing. The real issue here is lactose. If you can get dairy that’s lactose-free, you should be fine.

10. Corn

Corn isn’t a no-go zone in all forms. For instance, cornmeal should be just fine. The issue here is with the corn kernels. Whole kernel corn doesn’t want to break down in the system at all. It will make you feel full, but it doesn’t have much nutritional value because it’s not being digested in its whole form. As such, it’s a nightmare to pass without causing issues. So, just avoid it.
